We both enjoy flying gliders, there's nothing quite like soaring aloft with no noise but the wind past the canopy. People often ask why we don't fly power planes but think of the difference between sailing and power boats and you'll probably understand why. We're members of the Soaring Society of Boulder and are part owners in a Duo Discus (a high-performance two seat ship). Here's a Couple of pictures of a Duo Discus in flight. There are two soaring operations in Boulder, both at Boulder Municipal Airport. Our club is the Soaring Society of Boulder and the local commercial glider operation is Mile High Gliding. At the national level, the Soaring Society of America represents our sport. |
